Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken is cigarette producers appeared on the tobacco industry around one hundred years ago. Speaking more precisely it opened its door in 1910, in Erfurt, Germany. Now, it is one from the leaders of cigarette manufacture in Europe. It also controls 20% of domestic tobacco market.

Reemstma Cigarettenfabriken has a small history but full of events. The name of the company, as in most cases, belongs from its founder, Philip F. Reemtsma. As was mentioned, it appeared in 1910 and after eight years the tobacco fabric was automated. With such opportunity it importance grows to status of controlling around 60% of home market. After three years, in 1921, Reemtsma begins to produce a new cigarette brand, called “R6”. The year 1923 was marked by removing of it’s headquarter from Ertfurt to Altona, Hamburg, where it is still located.

Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken company produces a variety of famous cigarette brands, including Gauloises Blondes, Davidoff, Peter Stuyvesant, R1, and JPS. It sells its cigarettes in more than 130 countries around the globe. Reemtsma is a subsidiary of the UK’s Imperial Tobacco.

The well-stabled reputation makes Imperial Tobacco to procure the shares of the Reemstma Cigarettenfabriken in 2002 and make it a subsidiary company.
